Putting the pedal to the metal for whales
The marine ecosystem Baltic Sea is home to porpoises. Unfortunately, their population continually decreases. There are numerous man-made threats that bother the small marine mammal: high-speed ferries and submarine blasting injure their sensitive ears animals and influence or disturb their orientation. Often, porpoises end up as bycatch in gillnets. Overfishing the seas is another problem as the whales’ nutritional basis is taken away.
Aim of my campaign is to contribute to the protection of the “puffing pig” and therefore, I dedicate my Summer Bike Trip around the Baltic Sea to the only whale home to the Baltic Sea.
